I Did It!

Well, I finally broke down and went shopping. I know that Britt and Tony's wedding is June 12th. 3 days after my due date. But as I hear that 1st babies don't like to come on time. So I broke down and bought a dress this morning.

We went to Target. And I found this dress for only $25. Which was a bargain. Because I've been having some serious issues with maternity clothes lately! I'm not about to spend $300 on a maternity formal dress! Not even for this super formal wedding. But I like this dress. I really like all the ruffles around the neck. And even if I don't get to wear it to the wedding, well I will save this dress for my next pregnancy. :)

I didn't buy any shoes or anything. I'm sure that I have a clutch and shoes somewhere. I'm probably going to wear some flats. I just need to start digging around the closet.

Much Love Illy Giveaway

I just wish I had it in me to be beautiful these days. But I'm days away from becoming a mom. Bigger than a cow and living in the dessert. My hair has been in a ponytail for weeks! But when I saw this giveaway posted on Lola's blog, I just had to enter! Look at these pretty, fun, and bright colors! I hope I win. I'm not much for contests, because I never win. But I'm praying for a miracle here. I need something to get me through these last few days of worry. You know, we still don't have a name for our daughter...

Maternity Clothes

I've been looking for some maternity clothes. But they are so expensive! What I've been looking for are dresses. Perferably, formal dresses. My hubby and I are invited to a few weddings this summer. And I just can't imagine spending $400 for one dress. I have issues just spending money on regular clothes I wear every day.

So I've been a little down. This morning after my hubby went to work, I took to YouTube. And I found this video that shows all kinds of ideas for maternity wear. Well, except for my dress for the wedding. I just have a few weeks to find that. Only I'm invited to a formal wedding being this pregnant.

To be 100% honest, I'm not sure if we'll get to go to the formal wedding. Being that my due date is just around the corner. But I could still wear a maternity dress for a while. I doubt that I'll br wearing any kind of normal clothes until the Fall. But this is a good video. Take a look!

2 Weeks to Go

Dear Baby Girl,

You are getting so big and healthy. We went to the doctor today, and they tell us you're perfect. Guess what? Mommy and Daddy already knew that! Our doctor says it's safe for you to come now. And that you can come at anytime! It makes your Daddy and me very excited!

Your room is looking nice. And everything is ready for you. Daddy went out and bought some extra diapers. Just in case he said. He doesn't want his little girl to not have an y diapers. So we're ready.

Just your Daddy and I need to come up with a beautiful name for our beautiful little girl. Yes, I can say our beautiful little girl. Because we got pictures and a video of your today! We watched you suck your thumb, and get the hiccups. :) But don't worry. Daddy and I are working hard to get ready for you. All of our bags are packed. And everything in your nursery is ready. Daddy and I just need to decide on your name!

Love,
Mommy

PS This week we can't enough butter. I've been slathering it up on everything from corn to pancakes!

3 More Weeks

Dear Baby Girl,

This week we've been enjoying the nice weather outside. It's not really hot yet. Soon you will find out what I mean. June is about the hottest month here. But we're just having nice weather right now. So we've been enjoying it. Me and you go outside and read magazines and drink large glasses of ice water with lemon. So very yummy!

Daddy has been grilling us lots of yummy food. I promise, one day I'll be able to cook like your Daddy. Until then, we let him do lots of the cooking. :) We've been eating lots of fresh fruits and veggies. This week, our favorites have been baby carrots and strawberries. Just not together!

I've also been craving lots of cookie dough. But it's a big no-no while your inside me growing. So that will just have to wait until later. One day you will understand you mommy's love of cookie dough. Especially the chocolate chip kind. Straight from the tube. So yummy! But that will be a few years from now. I'll teach you all about it. Don't worry!

Love,
Mommy

4 More Weeks :)

Dear Baby Girl,

Well, we have 4 weeks to go! I can't believe you have been growing inside me for 36 weeks already! I can still remember the night when your Daddy told me he thought you were inside of me. I was a little panicked. I didn't know what to do.

But since then, life has flown right on by! Daddy and I got married. It was a surprise for everyone. Then, we found out for sure that you were growing inside of me. That's when I knew, I had to take care of you. And protect you from everything. I hope I'm doing a good job. Because I'm trying my best!

This week, I've felt anxious a lot. I've called our friend Lola a lot! She probably thinks I'm nuts. But she is really sweet. You'll soon find out how amazing she is! And I've read lots of blogs. One that makes me a little sad. Because that mommy and baby don't have a good daddy like your Daddy.

We've also been eating lots of stuff! My belly just keeps on growing. But the doctor tells me that's a very good thing. We've been eating lots of watermelon and strawberries. Daddy went and bought us 3 watermelons. And in just 5 days, they were all gone. And poor Daddy, I don't think he got to eat but 2 slices!

Your Daddy has been taking very good care of us too! He calls every chance he can from work. Just to say hi. He likes to talk to you. So I put the phone on my belly. I know you can hear him talking, because you start to kick. Just like you do when Daddy gets home from work.

Well Little Girl, your Mommy and Daddy love you very, very much! I just want you to know that. Nothing will ever change that. And we're very excited to meet you!

Love,

Mommy

1 Month

Dear Baby Girl,

In just 1 month, you're supposed to be here. I'm so excited! But so scared too. Daddy and I have been going to all of our classes. Learning how to get you here safely. And learning how to take care of you when you get here. Your Daddy is doing such a great job!

Speaking of your Daddy, he's very excited to meet you! Every night as we're going to sleep, he rubs my belly and you kick him. :) Daddy reads you a book and then he talks to you as I fall asleep. I really enjoy that. And I know we're going to be a close family.

Daddy and I are still trying to decide on your name. We don't what will fit you. But we're looking for a few names. Because we want to know a few that we like. We know that when we finally get to hold you, your name will just come to us.

This is going to be the longest month. Just waiting for you. Daddy and I finished your room. I know we took a long time. But we wanted it to be perfect for you! We've been washing all of your clothes and putting all of your new things away. All we have to do is what for you. But we want you to take your time. And when you're ready, we're ready to meet you too!

Love,
Mommy

Happy Mother's Day

I want to wish all the moms and moms to be a Happy Mother's Day! Especially to my mom and mother in law! Both of whom sent me some beautiful gifts! And who are teaching me every day how to be an amazing mom. If I'm even 1% of what the 2 of you are, I'll be very lucky! I feel so blessed to celebrate this year. It's trully an honor. Now I just can't wait to hold my daughter. :)

35 Weeks

Dear Baby Girl,

Happy Cinco de Mayo! You'll learn, around here it's a pretty big deal! It just makes your Mommy want to eat. Because there is going to be so much good food around! Today is also J's birthday. He's your Daddy's boss, and our really good friend.

Your uncle sent me some Butt Paste for Mother's Day! He said that I'm going to thank him for that later. I think we probably will!

We've had some pretty wild weather this week. It was super cold, until today. Then it got really hot! I already have the AC on. Hopefully, this is a good thing. But you'll learn, we have some crazy weather around here. Especially for living in the desert.

The sweetest thing that happened this week, was all your Daddy's doing. He really spoiled us the other night. We got a good massage. A long one too! I know you had to have enjoyed it, because, like your Daddy says, you were just chilling in there. And after our massage, Daddy made us a big ice cream sundae. We ate it, while he paint Mommy's toenails pink. :) Just don't tell anyone, I promised Daddy we'd keep his secret!

Love,
Mommy

Storkcraft Hoop Glider and Ottoman

With our paint color, furniture, and bedding picked out, I started searching for a glider. I had completely forgot about needing a place to sit with our little girl! I found the Storkcraft Hoop Glider and Ottoman for $180. They have it in many colors and finishes. But I like the white finish, to match the furniture we picked out. And the green, it picks up the details in the bedding we choose.

Sweet Peach

Well, we finally decided on a wall color! My hubby wanted yellow. But I just don't like yellow. I think it's a little harsh. Not very inviting. I don't know, I've just never liked the color. Not even Dancing Butterfly. It's the color on the bottom row, center. I liked the idea of a pale pink or green. But I couldn't find anything that would go with our bedding. It was so frustrating!

We took I don't know how many trips to Home Depot. And when we met at Home Dept yesterday, my hubby suggested an orange color. That's when I found Sweet Peach. It's on the top row, 2nd from the right. We both liked it. And it will bring out the details in the bedding we picked out. Sweet Peach was bought, and right now my hubby is painting the nursery.

I'm supposed to be getting together an address list of our friends. My mom and mother in law asked for it. They're planning our baby shower. :)

Tiger Lily Bedding

This is the bedding that we choose. It's the Tiger Lily Collection. I really like that it's bright. And is not just pink. But has other fun colors in it, like green, peach, and yellow. And it's not too "babyish" and can grow with our little girl. That's important!

The 6 piece set includes the quilt, bumper, dust ruffle, a fitted sheet, a diaper stacker, and 1 valance. All so fun and cheerful for $125. Not too bad.

There are some other items that we want to get. Like the mobile ($34), art ($22), and a lamp($34.) We also need a hamper ($25.) Oh and we can't forget about the curtains. We need another valance ($19) and 2 sets of sheers ($39.) We probably want to get a few extra sheets ($11) and a blanket or 2 ($13.) That's just under $400 for all of that!

As our little girl grows, there are bedding pieces to match this set. Like pillow shames, and extra decorative pillows. You can even buy buckets and baskets to match. :) So just like our crib will grow with her, we can add a few pieces to make this set last longer!

Da Vinci Kalani Convertible Crib

Both my mom and my mother in law were curious about how a crib can be convertible. So this is the set that my hubby and I have decided to buy. And here is the crib in all it's glory!

This is the crib, functioning as a regular baby's crib. No drop down sides. That was important to me.

When our little grow girls a little and is ready for a "big girl" bed, we can lower the mattress and turn the crib into a toddler bed. With the little railing.

Then as our little girl grows, we can turn the toddler bed into a daybed. I think this is a great deal!

Then one day, when we're done having kids and they're bigger, we can turn the bed into a full sized bed.

I think this is a really good deal. Right now we can get the crib for $250. We still have to buy a mattress. But to know that we can use this for years, I think we're making a good decision. And after reading tons of reviews and talking to Lola, I know that this crib is going to be safe for many years to come!

DaVinci Kalani Collection

I never found the matching pieces to the crib we liked. I looked everywhere! All I could find was the crib. I was a little sad. And in a bit of a panic today. Our baby girl is going to be here in just over 3 months. And it's ridiculous how we don't have anything substantial in the nursery.

So I decided to do some online shopping today. Or at least, some looking. Because in the town where we live, the only stores that sell baby furniture are Target and Wal-Mart. We have to drive about an hour to the nearest large city.

But I found the DaVinci Kalani Collection. And I'm in love! There is something sweet and gender neutral about this set. The crib is a convertible crib, and it can grow with our little one. :)

Here is the DaVinci Kalani Collection. This is the crib($250), with the 3 drawer changing table ($280)on the left and the 4 drawer dresser ($340) on the right.

This is the matching combo dresser ($450.) It has 3 large drawers and some shelves behind the door. I really like this too!

This set, with a mattress is a little less than $1500. You get free shipping on all the pieces. And honestly, I think this is what we're going with. I sent my hubby an email of this set, and he likes it too. All I have to say is, it's a good thing we've been saving money. I never realized how expensive baby furniture is!

Graco Victoria Non Dropside Convertible Crib

Now that we know we are expecting a little girl, let the shopping begin!

I really want white furniture. I think a nice calm color of paint, and a fun and colorful bedding would make for a nice nursery. You know, a clean yet inviting look. Something that will stimulate our daughter, but also grow with her. Because we certainly are not made out of money!

But I just didn't know where to begin. Our good friend Lola, works with my OB/GYN and is an intern. She works a lot with pediatrics and knows all about the latest recalls and such. Which is so good for me!

I'm at a loss with all these crib recalls. So I know that I don't want a drop down side crib. But after looking at the prices of cribs, I want a convertible crib. Enter in this crib. The Graco Victoria. And it seems like a very nice and safe crib.

Do you see how cute this crib is? I really like the detailing on the top and bottom. And it's something that has nice detail, but is neutral enough to use for our future kids.

And since we plan to wait a few years for our next baby, this crib converts into a toddler bed. You can raise and lower the mattress too! A good deal for $275!

But that's not all! Later on, we can turn it into a full sized bed. I think this is a good deal. And I really do like this crib. But we're not going to buy it just yet. I need to find the changing table and drawers to match. Which is a lot more difficult than I thought!

Our Love Story

My hubby and I are not your typical love story. We actually didn't like each other when we first met. We met in college. He was a few years ahead of me. Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, we had the same class. It was all about nutrition. And it bored me to death. Drew felt the same way. Many days he and his friends, who always sat behind me and my friends, would sleep.

But we didn't like each other. We'd run into each other in our building. We were in in the same college, but pursuing different degrees. And every time I would see him in the computer lab, or the snack bar, he seemed annoyed with me. I wasn't too happy about seeing him either. Often he was covered in hay or dirt, because his classes where out in the fields.

In that same annoying nutrition class, I met my friend Lola. She is in a band. And she invited me to a concert that she was playing in. I didn't know what I was getting into. It was at that show that my entire life would change.

Drew is good friends with all the guys in the band. And he was there too. Before I knew it, the 2 of us were talking. And talk we did. All night long! Way past the end of the concert, we sat and talked. J invited everyone over to his house for a big bonfire. Drew and I went. That was the night, he stole my heart.

It was unexpected. I had, had a previously horrible relationship. And I was not looking for a new relationship. I didn't want one. But I found Drew. Or he found me. And that my friends, was the beginning of this love.

We endured the endless teasing of friends, classmates, and roommates. But Drew and I were just enjoying each other. We didn't care what people thought. Well, my hubby graduated last May. And J offered him a job. Which he happily accepted. Just so he could stay here. And be close to me. I still needed about 2 years on my degree.

That was in May 2009. Drew got his own place. And I stayed living with my roommate. Then in September, we took a trip to Las Vegas. Drew was working in Reno. And we just decided to go to Las Vegas for the night. We must have been feeling adventurous. Because we got married! At the Little White Chapel. And not more than a month later, we found out we were expecting. Don't tell my dad, but I was pregnant when we got married. I didn't know it at the time.

Isn't it crazy how things happen? We wanted kids. We just didn't know it was going to happen so quickly! And now that I look back on things, I'm glad we got married when and how we did. My hubby continued to travel with work until November. Then he asked J for a position that would keep him close to home. That was a blessing. I also took a break from college. This is the first semester I've been off.

Now I'm about 27 weeks. And we're so excited! This summer, we'll have a little one. To love and to hold. I honestly hope that our baby looks like my hubby. There are so many things I want to share with our little one. But most of all, I want to share our love.

Eating Machine

When did I turn into the eating machine? Up until almost Christmas day, I couldn't eat. I was so incredibly sick. It wasn't just morning sickness. It was being sick all day long. I hated being at school. Because everything my stomach upset!

The sight, smell, or even though of food...it just made me feel so horrible! Most of my classes we're on the 3rd floor of this building. And the snack bar, is on the first. Talk about the scent of the food traveling! I used to really enjoy smelling the breakfast burritos when I got to school. Or the Patty Melts at lunch time. But not from Sept-Dec. I thought I would never make it through finals.

Then something happened about 4 days after Christmas. On our way back home from visiting our families. I got super hungry. I made my hubby stop at McD's I was so hungry. I ate an entire Quarter Pounder meal and a chicken nugget Happy Meal. No lie! I was back on eating. :)

Over the last few days, I've polished off the sausage and cheese basket we got from my grandparents. I made a considerable dent in 1 of our popcorn cans. I've eaten 2 big baskets of cookies. I don't know how much other food. Thank the Lord that my appetite has returned! Baby and I need it.

But now I'm a little worried. Are you supposed to eat like this? I mean, I'm starving 20 hours out of the day! No lie! And I don't know what to do. Is my body making up for the past 3 months that we didn't really eat? I just don't know. All I really know is this, I'm eating everything in sight!

Welcome

Welcome to my little blog. I don't know what exactly I'm going to blog about. But I figured it being the New Year and all, I would start a blog. A place to write about my life. It's quickly changing. I'm a newlywed. And an expecting mommy. I've also decided to take some time off of school.

So it being a new year and all, I want to start a few new things. One being this blog. Please bear with me. I'm not sure how this is going to go. But I do hope you enjoy the ride. Maybe a few of you could give me some words of wisdom. Or maybe, a little advise. I need a lot of it!
